what would you do if pi=3

what would you do if you discovered that pi did not = 3.1415926535...., but instead was just 3?

Re: what would you do if pi=3

Actually, Alabama legally defined Pi as 3 for a while. tongue

However, my grades in math would go way down if that happened.

Re: what would you do if pi=3

Wasn't that Indiana? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Pi_Bill)

And.. well.. Pi can't equal 3. So its hard to say what would happen if it did.

Yeah, I'm feeling generous today! In fact, you can even keep the other 0.0025591858 mm!

Here, just to be nice, you can have the last 31.0575 femtometers tongue (which is close to pi*10?)

I'm honoured. I'll take whatever's left too. Then I might need to go get an ice pack. All for a few yoctometers of string... hmm

that's just 'denting' the corners in, so it will still be the same. You could even say pi = 10000000 if you wanted with this tongue

MOLYBDENUM

did you get your username from the periodic table of elements? (the element molybdenum, atomic # = 42)

I would very so suppose, because otherwise it would be a very coincidental choice.

Yes. 42 is important as well.

no, the universe would explode!
for example:
the diameter is 42.
42 x 3 = 126
it would be smaller.
but still...
the diameter would be 42...
conclusion
but they are the same diameter!
mathematics would break!
(mathematics are essential to the universe)
so the universe would be unexistant!
