What would you do with an infinitely fast computer?

I would solve a bunch of unsolved math problems first, then think for a while about what to do next.

Re: What would you do with an infinitely fast computer?

That's a good question. I'd probably start by calculating pi as far as possible.

Re: What would you do with an infinitely fast computer?

Yeah, I got it from the xkcd fora.

But technically, you would finish pi in infinitely small time, or zero.

But you can never finish Pi.
Mega brain overheating.

Oh noes!

I might also try running all programs infinitely, to see if anything interesting comes out. Kolmogorov complexity of pi < printing all the digits. Same goes for something like the primes, or maybe even the Riemann Zeta function...

You know, that might not be such a good idea. I would probably keep it to myself, in secret, and figure out how to make pure diamonds from pencils with 5 joules of energy, and sell those.
I think it would make a lot more money, and you don't even need to pay for patent registration! big_smile

eh, but that'd only drive down the price of diamonds. hmm
Though it would present one problem:  all encryption would be worthless, so it might even be better to destroy the computer.

I am either really selfish or you are really kind. I'd still keep it for myself... not letting anyone know about it and keep it in a 500-digit hexadecimal-protected safe.

And fine, I would make it tell me how to magically vaporise 20 dollar notes so that it would cause disinflation and then make it tell me how to forge them tongue
But I think that's slightly illegal, so never mind that option. I'll stick with diamonds... they never made a law on that.

I guess, just don't forget that password wink (or write it down, put it in a file somewhere, etc..)

Impossible. It would resolve the crash in no time.

eh, I don't think I'd want to risk it, because there would be like 500 million lawsuits against it
Oh and you'd end up overloading your ISP, so your internet bill would go through the roof xD
