Should we replace these forums with FutureBB?

Currently these forums run FluxBB. However, FutureSight Technologies (an organization that both LS97 and I belong to) is going to release FutureBB at some point.

Because that forum software is more flexible and because we coded it entirely ourselves, I am wondering what everyone here thinks about implementing it on this site.

Keep in mind that if we do implement it, it will not be for a while because the software is still in the alpha stage.

Should we switch these forums to FutureBB once it is released?

  1. Yes
  2. No
  3. It's fine either way

Re: Should we replace these forums with FutureBB?

New SS? Cool. But

•A perfect URL system - instead of a topic being at an obnoxious URL like http://futuresight.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3, it would be at http://futuresight.org/forums/announcements/futurebb-released
•One-click style add-ons - you can install new style packs to improve the look of your forum by just uploading a file
•Simplicity - all features are easy to use, and almost every page can be accessed within four clicks
•Flexible permissions - there are a wide range of permissions you can set for every user group
•Full unread message tracking - all messages a user has not read will show up as unread
•Trash bin - all deleted posts can be recovered
•...and many more!

1. Actually, http://futuresight.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3 isn't obnoxious at all, and can be shorter than most other topic urls based on titles.
2. Good. But I wouldn't see it, so it doesn't matter to me.
3. Good I guess?
4. Hmm, interesting. But like #2, probably won't see it much.
5. Good, similar to vBulletin.
6. No
7. Noo

So not really

I haven't seen it "in action" either

Please help! Free ads on my next project on Scratch for helpers! Love-its on your 5 most recent projects (also with ads) for people who fix the entire problem!
ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS - EXCEPT EUROPA - ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE / I've quit MS. Why? ":P". Feel free to land on Europa now, and you might contact me at intf.tk or intforums.com, but remember the 49 minute time lag between Europa and Earth.

Let me point out that a few features are already here, such as...
4. I've already hacked the forums to mess with the permissions
5. This sort of comes with FluxBB, but I've improved upon it a bit - the FutureBB one is still better
6. I installed a plugin for FluxBB that gives us a trash bin. If you have a problem with administrators being able to see deleted posts, then you should not post anything that might be problematic in the first place. This is the internet - once you post something, it's out there. There is no way to take it back.
We also just updated our privacy policy to reflect that, so there is no ambiguity.
