Incorrect sidebar logon shows blank screen

See the title. (The sidebar is the box at the right of the screen.) A normal failed logon works with the login button, but using the box login gives nothing on failure.

...and it's fixed! The bug actually applied to entering a username that didn't exist, not the sidebar.
